Kerrie Jaquest, Enterprise Coordinator for the North Bank has been working with schools/colleges and businesses for just over a year, bringing together senior leaders and Enterprise Advisers to support young people to understand the local labour market, and to bridge the gap.

Andy Jewitt, Director, 360 Accountants is the Enterprise Adviser for Wilberforce college, which has enabled some fantastic work to be organised for the young people through the past year.

Most recently Wilberforce first year student and aspiring Chartered Accountant, Alex Jackson, who is taking Maths A Level and BTEC’s in IT and Business Studies completed a very successful, six week, work experience placement at 360.

Alex Jackson (right), student said: “This placement has helped me decide what to do with my future”.

Alex, who is also Finance Director of our student company, Flux Events, was presented with an ‘Award for Enterprise’ from Sophie Holmes of 360 Accountants at our recent College Awards Evening, in March.

360 also supported the Wilberforce College Careers Fair in February and some of their staff were interviewed by our Media students at this event. https://youtu.be/xP4a0e4e7KI

360 Accountants attended a Business Networking Lunch for students interested in accountancy careers and supported with Speed Interviewing at the Employment Seminar, together with taking another Business student on a week’s work placement, last year.

Clare Shaw, Business Liaison Manager, Wilberforce Sixth Form College said:

“Many thanks for putting the College into contact with 360 Accountants, this has now developed  into a positive and valuable relationship from which our students are really benefitting”.

The Careers and Enterprise Company create partnerships and partnerships lead to encounters. A young person who has 4 encounters with businesses whilst at school/college will earn 16% more in their lifetime. Through the Department of Education, this important work is building on the Local Enterprise Strategies across England, bridging skills gaps, and growing the economy.
