The Humber Renewables team and eight Humber businesses will join Siemens, ABP, Dong Energy, Vestas and Res Offshore at the Global Offshore wind exhibition in Glasgow tomorrow and Thursday.

The Renewable UK Offshore Wind 2014 – an annual conference and exhibition that showcases world-class developments and gathers leading players in the UK’s offshore wind market – is being held at one of the most exciting times for the sector in our region.

This event is the first dedicated ‘offshore wind’ event the Humber Renewables team and businesses will be attending since Siemens and ABP announced their £310m investment to bring a wind turbine assembly and shipping facility and blade manufacturing factory to enterprise zone sites in Hull and the East Riding.

The Humber Renewbles team will be joined by eight businesses from the Humber on Stand 76:

Green Palm Marine Solutions
HETA
Humber Wind Solutions
LCS Group
P & O Ferries
Point Engineering (Hull) Ltd
Rix Sea Shuttle
University of Hull

As well as this businesses linked to the Humber’s Offshore Wind offer will also be in attendance with ABP (stand 110) and Siemens (stand 84). Humber Renewables will join a drinks reception hosted by Siemens which will help to showcase the Green Port Hull offer.

While companies that have invested in Grimsby Docks as an operations and maintenance base such as Dong Energy (stand 80), Vestas (stand 73) and Res Offshore (stand 116) will also be in attendance at the exhibition.

Humber LEP Manager Richard Kendall said: “Our stand at the Renewable UK Offshore Wind 2014 in Glasgow will act as a great base for holding meetings and will attract visitors from the offshore wind industry and its supply chain.

“With eight business joining the Humber Renewables stand, and many investors linked to our region having a presence at this exhibition, the Humber has a very strong representation at the event.

“The last exhibition we did was one of the most successful so far, so I’m glad that we can again make an impact and support local SMEs to sell their services alongside us.”

There are two more events this year where businesses can join the Humber Renewables Stand:

• Hamburg Wind Energy in Hamburg, Germany, September 2014
• Renewable UK 2014 Manchester in November

Places are subsidised and SMEs may be able to claim back 50 per cent of the fees for attending the exhibitions and conferences. To discuss these in more detail, contact Humber Renewables exhibition coordinator Mary Green on (01482) 485271 or at marygreen@thma.co.uk

Led by the Humber LEP in partnership with the four Humber local authorities and Humber business organisations, Humber Renewables aims to promote the Humber region’s offshore wind and renewable offer to potential investors while supporting SMEs to become part of the supply chain.
