Organisations are invited to apply for funding from European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) by responding to a number of Calls for projects that will deliver Skills for Growth across the Humber.

There are two calls for projects that can benefit from funding from the European Social Fund (ESF).  The Calls for projects are now open until 13 July 2016 for the following activities:

Pathways to Drive Economic Growth – This call is seeking projects that will:

  • Develop and deliver training to support LEP area priority sector areas where evidenced skills gaps remain
  • Increase the skills levels of unemployed people to support transition to employment in LEP growth sectors
  • Deliver training to support residents to complete qualifications/part-qualifications and non-accredited training
  • Support Individuals to improve their skills profile and employment and/or progression opportunities
  • Work across the Humber LEP area, engaging with LEP partners, appropriate delivery organisations and stakeholders to deliver a responsive package of innovative skills interventions
  • Support unemployed people in raising their levels of skills to allow them to access new job roles within the Humber LEP area

A total of £2.5m of funding is available under this call with a minimum threshold of £50,000 ESF.

Developing Leadership and Management Skills – This call is seeking projects that will:

  • Respond to evidenced demand of SME employers’ need, assisting individuals to gain competencies that can be used to improve their individual performance and enhance organisational delivery
  • Increase the numbers of Humber residents who hold higher level leadership and management skills that can be transferred from one sector to another to drive individual progression and to contribute to business growth
  • Support business growth through the development of a more highly skilled workforce
  • Work across the Humber LEP area, engaging with LEP partners, appropriate delivery organisations and stakeholders to deliver a responsive package of innovative skills interventions

A total of £0.5m of funding is available under this call with a minimum threshold of £50,000 ESF.

Please see full information here.

Applicants for both project calls must ensure that their proposed activity does not duplicate or undermine regional skills provision (such as that delivered by the LEP or Jobcentre Plus) or national policy, including policies on other grants and loans.

Humber ESIF Committee Chair Isobel Mills said

“This is an excellent opportunity for organisations to bring forward projects that will make a real impact in the Humber.  We are looking for innovative and ambitious projects that will address our skills gaps and support the development of leaders within local business to drive economic growth in the Humber.

The Humber LEP has worked closely with the Department for Work and Pensions to bring this opportunity forward using funding from the European Social Fund.

This is yet another key milestone in the delivery of the Humber’s ESIF Strategy and we look forward to seeing projects that will add value to the significant achievements already made in delivering our ambitious skills agenda locally.”

Projects must support individuals and must not compete with other investments such as the Skills Support for the Workforce programme which is designed to increase skills of an existing SME workforce.

Support is available for organisations interested in responding to one or more of the calls. They can be contacted at tap@eastriding.gov.uk or 01482 391683.
