Richard is Humber LEP’s Energy Programme Manager, leading on the development and implementation of the region’s energy strategy, promoting Humberside as the UK’s Energy Estuary and acting as the area’s representative on the North East Energy Hub and Northern Powerhouse.

Prior to joining the LEP, Richard was the Head of Government Affairs & Communications at Hull-based renewables company Vivergo Fuels and held senior public affairs roles at several major businesses and organisations including Ladbrokes, Britvic, the Food & Drink Federation and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. He also stood for Parliament at the 2015 General Election for a constituency in North East England.

Outside of work, Richard is a competitive open water swimmer and holds a British and World record as the first person to ever swim from the Principality of Sealand to the UK mainland.
