The Humber LEP will join a task force led by North Lincolnshire Council to respond to the announcement of 900 jobs to be lost at Tata Steel’s Scunthorpe site and any other resulting job losses in the industry and supply chain locally.

Lord Haskins, Chair of the Humber LEP, said:

“The announcement of job losses at Tata is of great concern for the Humber economy, and the wider UK steel industry, which makes the task of driving growth in the Humber and increasing sustainable jobs in the region more difficult.

“We will support North Lincolnshire Council on their task force and with their response to help those facing redundancy in any way we can and we are hopeful of retaining the skills in the region.”
