While working with Hemingway Bailey, Evie now studies for her CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) qualification after qualifying as an accounting technician with East Riding College in Beverley. The college have supported her throughout her time as a student and apprentice and continue to stay in contact as she has progressed onto further studies. Evie collected the Intermediate Apprentice of the Year award for Yorkshire and Humber in her first year as an apprentice in 2014, and has gone from strength to strength.

Ruby’s progress in her career has also been rapid. She has progressed to such an extent that she was shortlisted in the Yorkshire and Humber Apprentice of the Year Awards.

Ruby said: “Working and learning at the same time has really helped me to see the bigger picture and I am always applying the knowledge I learn from the East Riding College AAT classes to my work. This is helping me progress within my role. I am now in charge of my own clients and help other apprentices in the firm with their work.”

Ruby is also now part of the region’s Young Apprentice Ambassador network, a role which requires her to attend meetings in schools and go to employers to tell them the benefits that an apprentice could bring to their company.

Both Evie and Ruby have spoken at events run through the Humber LEP, promoting Apprenticeships to young people and businesses across the Humber. They are a credit to themselves, East Riding College, Hemingway Bailey Ltd, and the whole Humber area.
