This scheme, funded through the Local Growth Fund, involves the construction of a new shared use footway/cycleway along the A161 Bridge Street/Lower Bridge Street in Goole. The 1km link will provide a safe and continuous cycle route between the residential area of Old Goole and key employment, education, healthcare, leisure and retail facilities in Goole town centre.
It is hoped that the new route will encourage more residents to make short local trips on foot or by bike, supporting the high percentage of Old Goole residents without access to a car while reducing carbon emissions and improving road safety by segregating cyclists and motorised vehicles.
The scheme is progressing well with the majority of construction work now complete. Works have been co-ordinated with the dock master at Goole Docks in relation to the works on the approaches to the three dock sites to maintain access and minimise disruption.
