Velocys, a UK renewable fuels company, has secured the option to acquire a site near Immingham on our Humber Enterprise Zone, where it plans to develop the country’s first commercial scale waste-to-jet-fuel project.

Another potential major boost for the local economy and the ‘Energy Estuary’, the site of approximately 80 acres near Immingham, would generate hundreds of local jobs during the construction phase.

Once complete this would be between 50 and 100 direct full-time jobs.

Development of the site is subject to planning consent; the formal planning application process is expected to begin in 2019. The project partners expect to reach a final investment decision in the first half of 2020.
