About the company
Fast-Form Systems Ltd manufactures and supplies award winning, patented formwork available for hire and sale to the construction sector worldwide. The versatile, lightweight and adjustable formwork and shuttering system offers an alternative to timber shutters and large panel systems, lowering delivery costs and carbon emissions.
Last year, the company won the contract to support the excavation and casting of concrete in the bases of tunnels in the London underground. This will drain pollutants discharged by the trains away from the groundwater aquifer, a process which is necessary to comply with new environmental regulations but will also improve efficiency in running times and result in fewer breakdowns caused by flooding in the tunnels.
The first contracted phase will be several kilometres of Victorian tunnel, after which the company hopes to win work on the remaining network. This could result in a long term contract of 10 to 15 years and with a value running into many millions in revenue.
About the project
The business was awarded funding to support a move to new premises with extended manufacturing and production space in order to efficiently deliver the contract with Transport For London. This included renting premises on Grimsby’s South Humberside Industrial Estate and purchasing tools, IT hardware and equipment including specialist steel and aluminium jigs.
The project will create 12 direct jobs across a range of roles, from operational workers to designers, sales and marketing people.
A number of the new staff recruited had been long term unemployed. Securing employment for these people has been an unexpected additional benefit of the project.
Tony White, managing Director said “The benefits of the project will be immense. Taking aside the huge amount of work we will get from the project it will also lead to our system being deployed elsewhere as our new patented technology can offer a cost effective and green solution to ageing underground infrastructures around the world. We have already had initial enquiries from Germany.
“Without this grant we may not have been able to take on the project. It is a huge help to have some grant funding when taking on a new project like this, the assistance in invaluable and enables us to grow the business and support our local community.”
