The project delivers an integrated programme of highways and public realm improvement works in the Cartergate/St James Square area of Grimsby Town Centre. This extends the £6m Local Sustainable Transport Fund scheme that supported sustainable travel modes in the Riverhead Square/Station Approach part of the town.
The project unlocks a major, mixed use development project that will address market failure in the provision of Grade A office accommodation and supports the retention and expansion of a major professional services firm.
The project has so far been well received by the business community and members of the public.
Since the funding was approved, the building project has expanded and now includes an additional floor which has the potential to increase the number of jobs created as a result of the project.
The delivery of this project is transformational to Grimsby Town Centre and is already attracting additional investment and interest from developers, such as a proposed £20m Riverhead Square cinema development, £8m hotel development at Cartergate and £2m redevelopment of St James House.
