Reacting to today’s Budget announcement on Hull-Selby electrification, Lord Haskins, Chairman of the Humber LEP, said:
“This is a significant step forward for the scheme. For the first time, the commitment and the money is now there from Government to complete the scheme. This means that we and Hull City Council can continue to support First Group to develop the detailed innovative proposition which will see the works completed early and purchased back in the next rail spending period. The electrification project is vital for the area and a priority for the LEP, so this latest progress is welcome.”
The Humber LEP will contribute £7.5m of Local Growth Fund money to the scheme, subject to business case. The contribution was announced in the Growth Deal last year.
