Employers, charities and community organisations from across the Humber region are taking advantage of the recently launched Humber Jobs Fuse, a service providing free support for local job seekers affected by the coronavirus and employers with skills gaps.
The Humber Jobs Fuse uses professional careers advisers from the National Careers Service to connect job seekers with organisations who have positions to fill. Lenzing Fibers Grimsby Ltd, an international fibres manufacturer, are one of the 11 organisations to have so far used the service to advertise live job vacancies to local job seekers.
Michelle Peacock, Area Manager for the National Careers Service in the Humber added: “Whilst many of our usual ways of supporting local job seekers and employers through face to face routes have changed, through the use of social media and digital channels we have been able to successfully support Lenzing and the other organisations in promoting their vacancies to hundreds of Humber job seekers.”
Sue Parkington, Human Resources Officer at Lenzing Fibers Grimsby Ltd said: “We had several roles to fill and found out about the Humber Jobs Fuse initiative through social media and began advertising our roles through them free of charge.
“The process of accessing the service was really easy and straightforward and it gave us the chance to advertise our vacancies on new platforms and link with careers advisers who were directly connected to job seekers in the local area.
“We would recommend this service for other employers who have vacancies in the Humber region and would benefit from a new, free way to share the roles they have on offer.”
Stephen Parnaby OBE, Chair of Humber LEP, said: “We are thrilled to have several local employers on board with the Humber Jobs Fuse initiative and are so pleased they are utilising this free service to advertise their vacancies.
“We know this is a difficult time for both individuals who may have lost their jobs, as well as businesses and charities with employment gaps, and are pleased to provide this service to support our region’s organisations while helping those who are searching for work.”
