About the company
Martin Williams Ltd is one of the UK’s foremost commercial vehicle bodybuilders, truck mounted crane supplier / installer and accident repair centres.
The business, situated in Hull, has built and fixed commercial vehicles, and continuously invested in technology and equipment to ensure the company’s processes are efficient and streamlined.
About the project
A grant of £67,751 was received to support the relocation of the sand blasting booth and subsequent extension of the company workshop to create an additional 8,000 square feet of production space. This will allow the company to take on larger jobs and create further employment opportunities.
The project also included the acquisition and creation of additional storage space and a parking area offsite to enable the business to build a trailer manufacturing plant, creating a ‘one-stop manufacturing and repair hub.’
The project will create 12 Body Manufacturing Technicians and safeguard two further jobs at the company.
The creation of these jobs provides a faster manufacturing output, enabling the business to approach new customers and expand their work pool.
Nick Williams, Director, said: “ Using the grant, we purchased a new, bespoke sand blasting booth and made alterations to our existing yard space, brining that area back into use.
“These alterations allowed us to venture into new markets and look at new opportunities.
“Since the grant, we have seen a 35% increase in turnover, and look to be on course for a further 20% increase in turnover for this year.
“Of course we have also seen an increase in our staff base, and this has helped us to increase our offering to customers.”
