Representatives from the Humber Renewables partnership, led by the Humber LEP, alongside six local businesses showcased the region in Barcelona this month (March).
The delegation, including businesses Team Humber Marine Alliance, ABP, P & O Ferries, J R Rix Sea Shuttle, University of Hull and Wind Power Support have had a great start to the exhibition with a steady flow of visitors to the stand including from Denmark, France and Germany, with plans to stay in touch to explore business opportunities.
The European Wind Energy Association exhibition and conference, which ran from March 11-13, is the first European exhibition attended by the partnership.
It is the first of five exhibitions the partnership and businesses from the region intend to attend in 2014 to raise awareness of the Humber offer and connect with people and businesses in the energy sector. The 2014-2015 Humber Renewables offshore renewable prospectus brochure will be available to visitors at the stand.
The partnership is urging businesses in the region to see if they could benefit from attending any of the remaining exhibitions to explore business opportunities:
– All Energy Exhibition and Conference in Aberdeen 21-22 May
– Offshore Wind Conference and Exhibition in Glasgow in June 2014
– Hamburg Wind Energy in Hamburg, Germany, September 2014
– Renewable UK 2014 Manchester in November
The exhibitions build on the success of those attended in 2013. The places are subsidised and SMEs may be able to claim back 50 per cent of the fees for attending the exhibitions and conferences.
Already five of the places have All Energy Exhibition and Conference in Aberdeen meaning five more can still join the stand. The aim is to showcase a united offer from the Humber as the UK’s Energy Estuary at the conference and exhibition on 21-22 May.
Businesses could join Best Service (Europe) Limited, RES offshore, Point Engineering (Hull) Limited, and Rix Sea Shuttle She-Knows Health & Safety on the stand. Last year’s All Energy event saw 606 exhibitors from 17 countries and 10,322 visitors.
The Humber Renewables team, which brings together inward investment officers from the four local authorities – Hull, East Riding, North Lincolnshire and North East Lincolnshire – together with the Humber LEP, will also have representatives from the North Bank and South Bank at the event.
Humber LEP Manager Richard Kendall said:
“Businesses have a chance to showcase themselves as part of the Energy Estuary and make key contacts at any of the five events.
“Our stand will act as a great base for holding meetings and will attract visitors from the Energy Sector. We hope businesses get in touch to see if being part of it can be beneficial to them.”
