Katherine Basford is the Senior Marine Licensing Manager at Marine Management Organisation.
Miss Basford has had experience in leading a team that managed and administered licenses and consents for complex construction works, dredging, safe navigation and other projects in the marine environment with reference to Marine and Coastal Access Act (MCAA) 2009. She has worked on major projects and undertaken Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) consent decisions under the Marine Works Regulations (2007) (as amended) and Appropriate Assessments (AA) under the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations (2010). She has also been a part of the implementation of the MCAA and regularly worked on guidance and interpretation of the legislation. In the past she has also worked as a trainee area manager, on the Aldi graduate scheme, and worked on the front line sales team for Red Bull, and therefore has additional experience in sales; marketing; finance; and general management.
Miss Basford is now an Environmental Consultant in the Coastal and Marine Environment Group. In this position her main responsibility is to coordinate and provide support on small to large environmental projects including Environmental Impact Assessments, Strategic Environmental Assessments, Habitats Regulation Assessments etc. within the coastal and marine sectors. This involves coordination of and / or contribution to projects of various sizes including nuclear new builds, port expansion works, channel deepening and dredging schemes, and other similar developments at the coast and offshore.
