Phil Benson is an award winning entrepreneur.
Co-Founding Xing Smoothies in 2006 after been inspired by the smoothie bars in the USA, studying at the University of North Carolina Wilmington as part of his Hull University International business degree.
On graduating, Phil bought a mobile unit and started trading around Hull city centre before the company set up their first smoothie bar at Hull University. From these small beginnings the company rapidly expanded. First franchising Xing smoothie bars into Universities then into schools and colleges across the country via their successful social enterprise Xing Education programme.
The company then went on to set up their first high street, street food cafe business in York and a drinks events and hospitality business focusing on large outdoor events, corporate, weddings and private functions.
Xing Education was named in the top 100 best businesses in the UK and the top 10 for social impact, as part of Smarta 100 national awards.
Phil was also a board member that successfully delivered 2017 City of Culture year. He supports many youth and enterprise initiatives and promotes social enterprises and a diverse technology sector in the UK.
Most recently, Phil has set up a business in the convenience and grocery sector, working with local producers.
