The project is a unique facility that will provide ‘real life’ construction training experience for Hull and Humber-wide residents, in order to address the skills deficit in the Construction and Built environment sector.

The project will:

  • Create a collaborative partnership of quality training providers in the region working towards developing talent to support the construction industry
  • Build upon the vision of the Construction Institute and Training Board (CITB) Constructing Skills Fund (CSF) to deliver both engagement and core trade based vocational skills via a consortium of training providers
  • Enable 551 people to have a ‘passport into construction’ to enter work in a trade.
  • Seek to employ significant proportion of people (163 by 2029) in the construction industry
  • Provide a range of training courses to support the construction industry grow their talent.
  • Tackle forecasted skill shortages and labour shortages and contribute to the Housing Strategy by building a responsive labour and skills programme, matched and co-located to developments.
  • Provide a training centre of excellence from which further smaller training hubs could be developed within the Humber region in collaboration with construction industry partners to support localised labour needs in those areas, such as Goole and Grimsby.
  • Provides opportunities for local people to fill 25,000 jobs to be created in the next 5 years (CITB, 2018)
  • Respond to the LEP Humber Housing Growth Plan (June 2018) to create skills and employability to improve capacity to deliver up to 56,000 new residences by 2032.
