As a new sign-up to the Skills Pledge, Samantha Cook, Sales Manager at Nightel and the new Hampton by Hilton at Humberside Airport, was keen to engage further with the Skills Pledge.
Sam is currently working with Scunthorpe Jobcentre and North Lindsey College to up-skill unemployed people in hospitality, using the sector based work academy model, to enable a group of 10 to undertake ‘World Host’ training.
Nightel was established in 2007 with the unique focus of providing dedicated accommodation to renewable, oil, gas and industrial workforces. Since then they have grown to become one of the Humber Region’s most successful and diverse provider of accommodation. One of the company’s ethoses is to ensure that all staff are fully trained for their work as well as us creating a diverse workforce.
Sam contacted the Humber Apprentice Support Service to look at taking on an apprentice in Construction and Maintenance. Through this, they employed Joe with the help of North Lindsey College, who are delivering the training.
Sam said “Joe has brought a new dimension to the team. His youthful outlook endears him to the whole team. He is a hard worker, who customers, construction teams, and visitors enjoy speaking with. It is a pleasure to work with him.”
