The Spencer Group’s commitment to developing work experience placements and apprenticeships has seen us deliver work experience to seven people throughout the summer of 2016. Work experience placements have been delivered in our design team where Harry Cooke, Miles Litten, Daniel King and Nadia Peacham have all undertaken one month placements.

Each student was given the opportunity to work on our Energy Works project, which is an innovative waste to energy facility being constructed in East Hull. Energy Works will be the first facility of its kind in the UK and will produce sufficient electricity to power 43,000 homes when operational.

Business related work experience placements have also been delivered to Macey Fullard and Zara Parker-Killen and Daniel Walters has undertaken work experience in our IT team.

The work experience placements are a great way to develop an interest in the engineering industry and show students there are many different careers which can be pursued within the industry.

We look forward to keeping in touch with all the students who undertook work experience placements and ultimately we’re hopeful they’ve developed a greater understanding of what they would like to do with their careers.

We also currently employ 16 apprentices across design, construction, IT, business development, administration and marketing. Apprenticeships are a great way for our business to grow our own talent and provide tangible career opportunities to local people. All our apprentices reside within a HU postcode and we’re very much looking forward to offering more apprenticeship opportunities in 2016.

We’ve recently recruited Holly Braimbridge as a Business Development Apprentice, Chris Smith as a Construction Apprentice and Courtney Smith as a Business Administration Apprentice. We’re liaising closely with local Colleges to ensure our vacant apprenticeship opportunities are offered to local people.
