About the company

Steelridge manufactures and supplies complex fabrications with supporting processes such as shot blasting, painting, stress relieving, assembly and hydraulic testing.

The sector is a competitive one and strategic investment is important for the company to maintain viability. The business had outsourced bending and profiling works but saw an opportunity to bring these functions in-house.

About the project

The business decided to invest in two new machines, a Press Brake and Plasma Profile Burner to streamline the manufacturing process, enable Steelridge to become more competitive and reduce lead times in build. In turn this is expected to open up areas of expansion into new sectors and provide turnkey projects for existing customers.

Job creation

The project will create five new jobs within a year of the investment and it is expected that a further 10 Fabrication Technician jobs will be created in future years

The future

The investment has put the business in a strong position to grow and maintain competitiveness. Christian Wilson, General Manager says “We can now bring certain processes in house, offering a potential annual saving of £500,000 and enabling us to offer a one stop supply.

“We hope that market demand will increase due to Steelridge being more competitive and being in a better position to win more tenders.”
