Aura Innovation Centre

The Aura Innovation Centre (AIC) will create a facility focused on proactively promoting and supporting research and innovation in low carbon technologies as well as their adoption through the commercialisation of new and innovative low carbon products and services.

By providing the focal point for interactions between the knowledge base and business, the AIC will create a conducive environment for the strengthening of commercial links between research institutions and industry as well as helping to change small business attitudes towards innovation.

Funding now available for renewable energy generation projects in rural communities

Rural groups in the Humber who are looking to develop greener ways to provide energy for their communities could benefit from thousands of pounds of funding to help develop their projects.

The Rural Community Energy Fund (RCEF) is a Government initiative to support rural communities seeking to develop feasibility work for renewable energy projects. Across the North East, Yorkshire and the Humber, around £1.46m is available for suitable projects in total.

Inaugural Energy and Clean Growth in the Northern Powerhouse conference was the biggest of its kind

The first ever Energy and Clean Growth in the Northern Powerhouse conference and exhibition attracted over 800 delegates across the two days – making it the biggest event of its kind to take place in the UK.

Electric cars from Hull’s groundbreaking Street Race to be displayed at Energy and Clean Growth Conference next week

An innovative charity that brought the UK’s first ever electric race on closed roads to Hull will be back in the city to display their cars and projects at an exciting energy conference next week.

Humber Energy Skills Campus hears about groundbreaking research into workplace stressors

The Humber LEP’s Employment and Skills Board is leading a collaborative project between employers, the University of Hull, FE colleges and specialist training providers, known as the Humber Energy Skills Campus, to build on the region’s expertise and become a centre of excellence for energy skills.

Enterprise Zone site targeted for the UK’s first commercial scale waste-to-jet-fuel plant

December 19, 2018

Velocys, a UK renewable fuels company, has secured the option to acquire a site near Immingham on our Humber Enterprise Zone, where it plans to develop the country’s first commercial scale waste-to-jet-fuel project.

Another potential major boost for the local economy and the ‘Energy Estuary’, the site of approximately 80 acres near Immingham, would generate hundreds of local jobs during the construction phase.

Once complete this would be between 50 and 100 direct full-time jobs.
