The Humber LEP working in partnership with the Careers & Enterprise Company Coordinator for Hull & East Riding held the Your Future student event on Tuesday 11th of October at the KCOM Stadium.
Around 400 students, predominately aged 16 to 18 from secondary schools and sixth form colleges from across the Hull & East Riding attended to learn about the real career opportunities available to them within the Humber key priority sectors (Health, Ports & Logistics, and Digital).
The event was lively but very carefully organised. Students moved in groups around 4 zones spending 30 minutes in each meeting key employers from the region and beyond hearing about the range and scope of job roles currently needed and future employment opportunities.
They then had a chance to speak to, work based learning providers, colleges and the university to look at their next steps in their future.
“The students were really engaged and involved and the staff and I also thought it was a fantastic event. My comment to the Head was “exactly what a careers event should be like”, hopefully you will be keen to do it again next year!” Sue Issatt Howden Secondary School
“The event was brilliant. My boys had a thoroughly enjoyable and informative time.
Well done for pulling it all together”. Lee Hamshaw-Hart Beverley Grammar
